MANSORY for the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door — the carbon programme on Affalterbach's dedicated four-door GT

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé (factory code X290) is not an AMG version of a Mercedes saloon — it is an AMG-built-from-Affalterbach four-door grand tourer, sitting alongside the two-door AMG GT coupé (C190 / C192) as a dedicated AMG family rather than an AMG-badged E-Class or CLS. The distinction matters for buyers and for the Mansory programme specification. The X290 shares its MRA-II platform with the E-Class (W213) and the CLS (C257), but the body shell, the bonnet, the bumpers, the wings and the roof-line are unique to the AMG GT 4-Door line — which means the Mansory kit is dimensioned to the X290 body shell specifically and shares no panels with Mansory's E63 or CLS programmes. The X290 is also the donor for the most powerful road AMG ever built: the GT 63 S E Performance PHEV, which combines the M177 4.0-litre biturbo V8 (factory-fed rear axle) with an electric rear motor for a 843 hp / 1,470 Nm combined output. The Mansory kit is specified against all five X290 powertrain donors.

Why the X290 runs a ground-up Mansory SKU separate from the two-door AMG GT

The original two-door AMG GT (C190 / C192) sits on a bespoke Affalterbach platform with a front-mid-mounted V8 and a transaxle gearbox — a 911-type layout rather than an E-Class layout. The X290 four-door sits on the MRA-II longitudinal architecture with front-mounted engine and dual-clutch transmission directly behind the engine block. The two cars share the AMG name and an AMG design-language family but are mechanically and dimensionally completely distinct. The Mansory AMG GT coupé programme ships a different parts catalogue from the X290 programme on this page. Commissions that specify both cars in the same household run matched paint code and matched carbon weave across the two SKUs so the pair reads as a coordinated AMG GT family despite the underlying mechanical divergence.

Donor range — the full X290 book

  • AMG GT 43 — 3.0 inline-six M256 + 48V EQ Boost mild-hybrid, 367 hp / 500 Nm
  • AMG GT 53 — 3.0 inline-six M256 + 48V EQ Boost, 435 hp / 520 Nm with electric booster response
  • AMG GT 63 — 4.0 biturbo V8 M177, 585 hp / 800 Nm
  • AMG GT 63 S — M177, 639 hp / 900 Nm (ICE flagship)
  • AMG GT 63 S E Performance — M177 V8 (630 hp) + electric rear-axle motor (204 hp), combined 843 hp / 1,470 Nm, 0–100 km/h 2.9 seconds — the most powerful road-legal AMG ever built as of 2026

The Mansory kit is dimensioned to both pre-facelift (2018–2021) and post-facelift (2021+) bumper geometries — specify model year at commission and the workshop ships the appropriate bumper SKU. All donor variants take the same body shell panels (the PHEV's rear-axle electric motor sits inside the factory subframe and does not alter the body shell).

Body conversion — kit parts list

  • Front bumper — full-panel carbon-composite with integrated lower splitter and carbon air-curtain vents
  • Front fender flares — 25 mm overlay extensions preserving factory wheel-arch geometry (optional track-spec variant adds 40 mm for 23" fitment)
  • Dry-carbon engine bonnet with central louvre vent extracting heat off the V8 intake
  • Front-fender vent trim — carbon surrounds for the factory functional fender vents
  • Carbon side skirts with downforce flow blade
  • Carbon mirror housings
  • Rear bumper with integrated carbon diffuser (quad-exhaust compatible on V8 trims, twin-exhaust on GT 43/53)
  • Fixed rear wing in dry carbon (optional; specified on approximately 35% of commissions)
  • Rear roofline spoiler — carbon lip at the rear glass upper edge
  • Boot-lid spoiler (alternative to the fixed rear wing, specified on restrained-spec commissions)

Material: dry carbon on the bonnet, mirror housings, fixed rear wing and rear roofline spoiler; PU-RIM composite with visible carbon on the front bumper, side skirts and rear bumper (full-dry-carbon upgrade available). Install four to five shop days including the fender-flare integration. The factory AMG Track Pace telemetry system is preserved and the carbon bonnet's louvre vent does not interfere with the factory active-bonnet pedestrian-safety mechanism (the louvre sits well aft of the active-deployment hinge zone).

M177 V8 — the Affalterbach biturbo, and what Mansory tunes vs preserves

The GT 63 / GT 63 S runs the M177 4.0-litre biturbo V8 in various state-of-tune — 585 hp on GT 63, 639 hp on GT 63 S, and the 630 hp ICE output of the PHEV variant supplemented by the electric rear axle. The engine is the same across the GT 63 family, built on the Affalterbach "one man, one engine" line. Mansory offers a stage-1 tune for the M177 that pushes the GT 63 S to approximately 740 hp / 1,050 Nm with calibrated DCT mapping and a revised boost-pressure curve. The PHEV's E Performance variant is not accepted for the tune — the hybrid-control calibration is Mercedes-proprietary and no aftermarket remap path exists for the combined powertrain. Mansory sport exhaust is available for the V8 donors (non-PHEV and PHEV-compatible variants) and for the inline-six donors (GT 43 / GT 53).

Factory AMG Ride Control+ adaptive damping and factory AMG Active Roll Stabilisation (48V active anti-roll on V8 donors) are preserved. The Mansory lowering module is compatible with all X290 trims; approximately 60% of commissions specify it. Factory rear-axle steering (standard on GT 63 / GT 63 S / E Performance) is preserved at factory function.

Wheels — 22" and 23" forged on the AMG-specific 5×112 PCD

Factory X290 wheel sizing ships at 20" standard and 21" optional on V8 trims. Mansory's forged wheel offering covers 22" and 23" on the AMG 5×112 PCD. The 22" is the volume commission spec across V8 donors — balances visual presence against ride quality. The 23" is the track-spec commission with the wider front-fender overlay and is commissioned predominantly on GT 63 S E Performance donors. Tyre fitment at 22" is 275/35-22 front / 315/30-22 rear; at 23" it moves to 285/30-23 front / 325/30-23 rear with the fender-overlay package. Compounds: Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S or Pirelli P Zero Corsa (track-use variant). Full forged-wheel range at Hodoor forged wheels.

Geography — the Affalterbach-alumni and autobahn-cruiser map

The X290's geographic order book concentrates in markets that specifically favour a four-door V8 grand tourer over a four-door V6 grand tourer — a narrower buyer profile than the Panamera or the Continental, but a well-defined one. Four geographic clusters dominate Mansory X290 commissions:

Germany (home-market AMG cluster). Affalterbach itself, Stuttgart, Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Hamburg. The X290's design positioning — an AMG-from-the-ground-up four-door — attracts the AMG-alumni buyer profile particularly in Germany, where AMG brand heritage is deepest. German X290 Mansory commissions weight toward V8 donors (GT 63 and GT 63 S, with a growing PHEV share since 2023 as the E Performance reaches secondary market) and toward the aggressive-spec tier — full front bumper, carbon bonnet, fixed rear wing, stage-1 tune, 22" forged. Approximately 30% of Mansory X290 commissions ship into Germany.

Austria, Switzerland, Italy (continental Alpine corridor). Austrian commissions cluster around Vienna, Salzburg and the Tyrol; Swiss X290 commissions lean restrained (Zurich and Geneva both skew toward retained factory paint and dry-carbon-only spec); Italian X290 commissions weight aggressive (Milan and Rome) with sport exhaust and 23" fitment. The X290 sees a strong summer-garage use pattern along the Gardasee, Como and Tyrol corridors.

Russia / CIS (the AMG V8 corridor). Moscow and St. Petersburg have historically been AMG V8's deepest single non-German single-city market, and the X290 GT 63 / 63 S book reflects that. Russia / CIS orders route through the Tsar programme. Commission spec weights aggressive — full front bumper, carbon bonnet with louvre, fixed rear wing, stage-1 tune, Mansory sport exhaust, 22" or 23" forged.

Middle East and North Africa. UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain. Gulf X290 commissions concentrate on PHEV E Performance donors since 2023 — the 843 hp figure attracts the Gulf performance-flagship buyer profile, and the PHEV's electric-launch character rewards the Gulf's short-burst-high-output use pattern.

Secondary markets. US commissions cluster around LA, Miami and South Florida. The X290 has a smaller US market than the Panamera because the US buyer profile tends toward SUVs at this price tier rather than four-door performance sedans. UK commissions are small but steady (London and the Home Counties). China and South Korea carry a growing but thin X290 commission flow on GT 63 / GT 63 S donors.

Sister Mansory Mercedes-AMG builds

The X290 programme sits alongside the AMG GT coupé (two-door C190 / C192), the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class W223, the G-Class W464 (carbon variant), the G-Class W465 Gronos, and various E-Class / S-Class Mansory trim tiers. AMG-brand households frequently specify X290 + G-Class commissions on matched paint-and-weave spec; the X290 + Maybach S combination is another common two-car household commission.

FAQ

Is the X290 kit the same as the two-door AMG GT kit?
No. The X290 four-door and the C190/C192 two-door AMG GT are mechanically and dimensionally distinct cars on different platforms. The Mansory X290 SKU and the two-door AMG GT SKU share design language but no body panels. Households running both cars specify matched paint and matched carbon weave direction for family consistency.

Does the GT 63 S E Performance PHEV accept a Mansory stage-1 tune?
No. The E Performance hybrid-control calibration is Mercedes-proprietary and no aftermarket tune path exists for the combined powertrain. Body parts and the sport exhaust are E Performance–compatible. The non-PHEV GT 63 / GT 63 S (pure M177 V8) accepts the Mansory stage-1 tune at approximately 740 hp / 1,050 Nm output.

Does the carbon bonnet interfere with the factory active-bonnet pedestrian-safety mechanism?
No. The Mansory bonnet's central louvre sits aft of the active-deployment hinge zone and does not alter the active-bonnet deployment geometry. Factory active-bonnet function and AMG Track Pace telemetry are preserved.

Does the fixed rear wing require TÜV certification in Germany?
Yes. The fixed rear wing ships with a TÜV certificate specific to the X290 body shell, at the manufacturer's cost. The boot-lid spoiler alternative does not require TÜV certification. Commissions outside Germany ship with the wing's EU homologation paperwork; select markets (Switzerland, UK) have country-specific additional documentation which the workshop provides at order.

Is the kit fitting affected by the GT 63 S E Performance's rear-axle electric motor?
No. The electric rear-axle motor sits inside the factory rear subframe and does not alter the body shell, the rear bumper aperture or the exhaust outlet geometry. The kit fits the E Performance donor at the same panel dimensions as the non-PHEV V8 donors.

Can the Mansory kit be paired with an E63 S W213 programme for a household-matched two-car spec?
Mansory's E63 programme is thinner than the X290 programme because the X290 is the AMG-designated four-door flagship. Households running both cars typically match paint code and carbon weave specification across the two commissions; the mechanical platforms are related (MRA-II) but the body panels are not interchangeable.
