Mansory 720S — a CFRP-on-CFRP build around the MonoCage II

McLaren built the 720S around a structural carbon tub — the MonoCage II — and that single fact reshapes every aftermarket conversation about the car. A Mansory body programme on a steel-monocoque Bentley is a paint-and-panel exercise; on the 720S it is an engineering brief. The bonded composite cell is part of the load path. Anything that touches it has to bond to its outer skin with a process compatible with the original adhesives, or anchor through the OEM hardpoints McLaren left for bumper carriers, fender liners and the powertrain frame. Get either wrong and you compromise crash performance, NVH, or Active Rear Wing calibration.

Sister page for the previous-generation Super Series: the Mansory programme for the McLaren MP4-12C / 650S.

Bonding to the MonoCage II — why CFRP-on-CFRP is not a simple swap

The MonoCage II is a one-piece autoclave-cured carbon structure that incorporates the A-pillars, the windscreen frame, and the rear bulkhead. Its outer surfaces are the same composite stack as the structural laminate, sealed and primed at the factory. When Mansory adds a forged-carbon fender extension, the panel sits on this structural skin and has to be bonded with a system that survives the same temperature cycling McLaren validated for the original assembly. Hodoor's protocol calls for two-part epoxy in the same modulus class McLaren uses, with surface prep by abrasive pad and isopropyl wipe rather than aggressive solvents that could attack the original primer.

Where the kit replaces a bumper, the original carrier and crash beam are reused, and the new Mansory carbon skin clips onto McLaren's tabs and threaded inserts. No drilling into the tub, ever. Mansory's panels are produced with the same fastening geometry as the OEM parts they replace, so the install is a sequence of unbolt-OEM and bolt-on-Mansory steps. Where overlay panels bond to a load-path surface, the crew tents the area, raises panel temperature to spec and clamps with vacuum bags during cure.

The Active Rear Wing aero envelope

The 720S Active Rear Wing is a kinematic device with three positions: low-drag stowed, mid-deploy at speed, and a near-vertical airbrake bias under heavy braking. Mansory's performance wing assembly — and the redesigned engine cover that surrounds it — preserves full actuator vertical travel and keeps airbrake angle clearance. The wing uprights are CFD-shaped to live in the same wake the OEM wing occupies, so high-speed balance and rear-axle download are not corrupted. A fixed swan-neck wing is a separate order line; the standard programme keeps Active Rear Wing functionality and its OEM control logic untouched.

Lower-body components — what bonds, what bolts, what reroutes airflow

Front bumper assembly. Forged-carbon front bumper with redrawn splitter, lower-intake openings sized to keep the front radiator and brake-cooling ducts at OEM mass-flow targets. The unit bolts to the original crash beam; the splitter incorporates an undertray extension that mates with the floor's existing M6 captive nuts.

Engine bonnet and front fenders. Forged-carbon bonnet replaces the OEM aluminium clamshell, retaining hinge and latch geometry; the catch sensor wiring loom moves across without modification. Front fenders carry three-to-five-millimetre flares at the leading edge to accommodate the optional forged-wheel set, and bond to the MonoCage II edge using the structural epoxy described above.

Side skirts, door extensions and rear-fender intakes. The side set continues the lower-body line into the diffuser. The rear-fender NACA-style intakes are functional — they feed the mid-mounted cooling pack that handles the M840T V8's intercooler circuit. Hodoor's QC step measures intake mass-flow on a fan rig before crate-out so the cooling envelope is verified, not assumed.

Rear bumper, diffuser and Mansory exhaust. The rear bumper is supplied with the integrated diffuser and the four-tip Mansory titanium exhaust system; tips clear the diffuser strakes by the same five-millimetre spec McLaren uses on the OEM unit. For owners who want to keep the OEM bumper line, the diffuser is also offered standalone — a one-part swap that bolts into the OEM diffuser's threaded inserts.

Engine deck and rear outtake set. Forged-carbon engine cover, the air outtake bonnet panel, and a three-piece rear air outtake grill cover. These are the only kit panels that overlay a load-path surface, so they ship with the structural-adhesive kit and a fitting jig.

MSO, warranty and what McLaren considers an authorised modification

McLaren Special Operations does not certify third-party body programmes, but the warranty stance is consistent: components untouched by the modification keep their warranty, components touched by it do not. The powertrain warranty — engine, transmission, electronics — is preserved as long as the install does not interfere with the engine bay, cooling plumbing or wiring looms. The Mansory 720S kit, fitted by a qualified workshop, does not require any engine-bay changes, and the Active Rear Wing's actuator wiring is untouched. Owners with extended warranty contracts should still file the modification with their dealer; Hodoor ships a fitment dossier (component list, adhesive batch numbers, torque sheets) to support that filing.

Install prerequisites — what the receiving workshop must have on hand

  • Two-post lift rated for the 720S kerb plus a margin for the fitting jigs (minimum 2.5-tonne lift, four-pad coverage)
  • Climate-controlled bay holding 18-24 deg C and below 60 percent RH for the duration of the structural-adhesive cure window
  • Calibrated torque wrenches in the 8-45 Nm range and McLaren-spec Torx and triple-square bits for the OEM hardpoint hardware
  • Vacuum-bag clamping kit and infrared panel-temperature gun for the overlay-panel cure steps
  • OEM-equivalent diagnostic tool (McLaren MDS or compatible) to clear any transient codes after wiring loom transfers
  • Lockable storage for the OEM bumpers, bonnet and engine cover — owners often reinstate these for resale, and Mansory parts are not the OEM serialised units

Active aero, sensor and ducting compatibility

The table below maps the kit's interaction with the 720S systems that drive active aero, brake cooling and ride-height management. Each of these has to be confirmed compatible before the car leaves the install bay; the figures are the targets used in Hodoor's pre-shipment QC.

Build queue and lead times

The 720S kit pairs with three forged-wheel families: the M9 split-spoke, the FD15 deep-concave and the FD8 turbine, all in 9.5J×20 front and 11.5J×20 rear within the homologated offset window. Brake-pad clearance and TPMS sensor pickup are verified before crate-out. The programme is built to order: from a signed configuration sheet and a 50 percent deposit, expect six to nine weeks for the panel set to be cured, finished and crated, plus regional shipping. Spider adds roughly one week for tonneau-cover fit. Hodoor schedules a video walk-through with the customer at QC — panels checked, torques logged, mass-flow numbers recorded — before the crate is sealed.

Delivery footprint for the Mansory Mclaren 720s programme

The Mansory Mclaren 720s ships globally, but volume concentrates in a few well-defined regions. Mediterranean demand — Greece, Cyprus — clusters around coastal collector communities. The European footprint is led by Austria and the United Kingdom, with specialist body shops in Luxembourg servicing local fitment. Gulf demand routes through Dubai and Riyadh, with secondary volume across Qatar. Insured shipping with full customs paperwork is included on every Mclaren 720s order, regardless of destination. Outside that core, repeat consignments also crate to the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Japan, South Africa, with regional service partners handling on-site fitment and aero recalibration.

Adjacent supercar Mansory programmes

Comparable Mansory builds in the same supercar tier are McLaren 765LT and Lamborghini Aventador. Both share Mansory factory routing and the same forged-wheel catalogue logic via Hodoor.World.

FAQ

Does the Mansory 720S kit interfere with Active Rear Wing operation?
No. The wing assembly and the surrounding engine cover preserve the OEM actuator's full vertical travel and the airbrake-mode clearance. The OEM control logic, the position sensor and the wiring loom are untouched. After install the wing's three operating positions remain calibrated and within McLaren's tolerance.

How does this affect my McLaren MSO warranty status?
Powertrain warranty is preserved — engine, transmission and electronics are not touched by the kit. Body, paint and active-aero warranties on the replaced or modified components are not. McLaren expects modifications to be filed in writing with the dealer; Hodoor ships a fitment dossier (component list, adhesive batch numbers, torque sheets, QC measurements) with every kit so owners can submit a clean modification record.

Is the install reversible — can I refit the OEM panels for resale?
Yes, provided the OEM panels were stored properly. The kit is a bolt-on replacement on every load-path surface (bumpers, fenders, mirrors, engine deck). Overlay panels (the rear-deck three-piece) come off with controlled heat and a wedge tool. Hodoor recommends humidity-controlled storage for the OEM parts and supplies labelled crating on request.

Will the kit affect handling balance at autobahn or trackday speeds?
It is engineered not to. The wing is CFD-shaped against the OEM wake, the front splitter is sized so front download tracks the rear, and the brake-cooling ducts hit OEM mass-flow targets. The donor car's high-speed balance is preserved within the QC tolerance band quoted in the compatibility table above.

Can I order individual panels rather than the full kit?
Yes. The diffuser, the wing, the engine cover three-piece and the rear-fender intakes are all available standalone. We recommend doing the front bumper and front fenders together — the splitter geometry is matched to the fender flare line — but otherwise the kit is modular by design.
