MANSORY for the BMW XM — the first standalone M car in four decades, and M's first PHEV

The BMW XM carries two firsts that reshape what a Mansory M-car commission looks like. It is the first standalone BMW M production model since the M1 ended production in 1981 — every M car in the four decades since has been a variant of a regular BMW (M3 is the 3-Series with M engineering, M5 is the 5-Series, M8 is the 8-Series). The XM is an M-only model; there is no non-M XM. And it is BMW M's first PHEV — a 4.4-litre S68 twin-turbo V8 paired to an electric motor and a 25.7 kWh battery, delivering 653 hp system output on the base XM and 748 hp on the XM Label Red. The Label Red was at its launch the most powerful production BMW M car ever. The Mansory carbon programme works against both the standalone-M positioning and the PHEV architecture.

Kit content — the published parts list

The XM Mansory kit ships a full bodywork set where each zone offers a lighter-touch and a more-aggressive variant.

  • Front lip (the lighter spec) or Front lip with side flaps (the aggressive spec — adds swept side-flap carbon sections that extend toward the front arch)
  • Rear diffuser (lighter) or Rear diffuser with side flaps (aggressive — adds carbon side-flap sections that extend rearward along the rear-arch sill)
  • Fenders and door extension — wide-body fender extensions on both front and rear arches, plus door-edge carbon extensions that carry the widened bodyline across the door skin
  • Roof spoiler — trailing-edge carbon lip integrated with the factory roof line
  • Side-skirt lip — carbon sill under the factory side skirt, pairs with the fender-and-door extension to carry the wider bodyline continuously along the side profile
  • Rear-decklid spoiler — carbon lip at the rear-deck upper edge
  • Front bonnet with logo — dry-carbon full-panel replacement (not overlay) with Mansory logo insert, and the vented louvre geometry of the factory XM bonnet preserved
  • Logo for front bonnet — separate line item if the customer wants to retain the factory bonnet panel and add only the Mansory logo overlay
  • Mirror cover (pair) in carbon weave

Material: dry carbon on the bonnet, roof spoiler, rear-decklid spoiler and fender extensions; PU-RIM composite with visible carbon on the front lip, rear diffuser and door extensions (dry-carbon upgrade available on all items). Install runs four to five shop days with paint-match on PU-RIM panels.

PHEV architecture — what the kit preserves

The XM's PHEV architecture places specific constraints on any aftermarket bodywork. The S68 V8 runs at the front, the e-motor is integrated with the 8-speed Steptronic gearbox in the transmission housing, and the 25.7 kWh battery lives in the floor pan between the axles. Cooling requirements are split across three distinct loops: V8 coolant (conventional), battery-pack liquid cooling (dedicated), and e-motor / inverter coolant (separate loop). All three loops breathe through the factory front lower-grille aperture and the lower radiator-support opening. The Mansory front lip — both the lighter and the with-side-flaps variants — preserves the factory grille aperture and the lower radiator opening unchanged. Battery thermal management under DC fast charge (the XM supports 11 kW AC and uses the BMW DC-fast network) continues at factory spec with the kit installed.

The XM's charging port lives on the left front fender. The Mansory fender extension is dimensioned to clear the factory charge-port door without covering it; the flush-door actuator retains factory function. Owners charging at home with a wall-mounted unit confirm that the charge-cable approach angle is unchanged — the kit does not alter the port approach geometry.

Base XM vs XM Label Red — kit fits both without dimensional change

The Label Red differs from the base XM at the factory in: the S68 calibration (95 hp higher peak), unique copper-accent trim (the red-painted side-skirt stripe and the copper-bronze front-grille border), factory carbon-ceramic brakes as standard, and a unique forged-wheel finish. The Mansory kit fits both variants without dimensional change — the copper-accent trim of the Label Red is overlaid below the kit sill line and remains visible where owners want to retain the Label Red signature, or the Mansory kit fully covers the copper trim for owners who prefer the Mansory visual language without the Label Red cue. The factory-carbon-ceramic brakes on the Label Red require no aperture modification.

Wheels — 23" or 24" forged

Factory XM ships on 22" or 23" wheels depending on the package. The Mansory offering is a dedicated 23" or 24" forged multi-spoke on the XM's 5×112 PCD. The 24" is the common choice on Label Red commissions. Full wheel range at Hodoor forged wheels.

Geography — polarising-design markets and M-nostalgia markets

The XM's geographic order book has a pattern that no other BMW M car carries, because the XM's factory design is polarising in a way the M5 / M8 silhouettes are not. Two distinct market clusters commission Mansory XMs at above-average rates:

Polarising-design early-adopter markets. The XM's tall-wagon SUV silhouette, the split-headlight front, and the gold-slat kidney grille (on the standard XM) or the copper-border grille (on the Label Red) attract a buyer segment that actively prefers a statement-making silhouette. These commissions cluster in the UAE (especially Dubai Marina and JBR), Riyadh, Doha, Miami Beach, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The typical Mansory spec from this cluster is the aggressive-tier bodywork stack (both side-flap variants, full fender-and-door extension, 24" forged, full dry-carbon) and often a paint-code change from factory-spec to a Mansory Blanccarat or matte-black finish.

BMW-M-nostalgia markets. The XM's standalone-M positioning — the first since the M1 — resonates with the M-collector segment that runs E30 M3s or E46 M3s in the garage. These commissions cluster in Germany (Munich / Frankfurt / Stuttgart), Switzerland, Austria, and the UK. The typical spec from this cluster is the lighter-tier kit (front lip without side flaps, rear diffuser without side flaps), the factory paint retained, and a 23" wheel rather than a 24" — the M-nostalgia buyer tends toward a restrained Mansory spec. The Russia / CIS pool through the Tsar programme sits closer to the polarising-design cluster in spec profile.

Asia-Pacific is thin for XM Mansory orders — Japan has essentially no XM Mansory volume, China and Hong Kong carry a small and mostly Label Red commission flow, and South Korea is growing slowly since 2024. The Chinese NEV-plate incentive on PHEVs is one of the reasons the XM sees a small but present Tier 1 Chinese order book.

Sister Mansory BMW builds

The XM sits within the Mansory BMW flagship stack alongside the BMW M5 G90 (the new M5 that is itself BMW M's second PHEV after the XM — the two cars now share BMW M's PHEV architecture path), the 7 Series G70 / i7 kit, and the older G12 7-Series programme. Households that run an M-car alongside the XM (typically an M5 or an M8) commission the two to matched carbon weave and paint spec.

Ordering & lead time

Full base-tier kit: four to five weeks from the workshop. Full aggressive-tier kit (with both side-flap variants): five to six weeks. 24" forged wheel set: five weeks. Email [email protected] with your VIN, the variant (base XM / XM Label Red), the tier preference (lighter / aggressive / mixed), whether the Label Red copper-accent trim should remain visible below the sill line, the bonnet-piece choice (full dry-carbon bonnet replacement or factory bonnet with Mansory logo overlay), and the wheel size.

FAQ

Does the kit fit both the base XM and the XM Label Red?
Yes. The body shell is common between the two variants. The Label Red's copper-accent trim and factory-ceramic brakes are preserved and visible where the Mansory kit does not overlay them.

Will the front lip block the V8 or the battery cooling path under DC fast charge?
No. The Mansory front lip — both the lighter and the with-side-flaps variant — preserves the factory grille aperture and the lower radiator-support opening. All three cooling loops (V8 coolant / battery liquid cooling / e-motor coolant) continue at factory spec through the unchanged apertures.

Does the fender extension cover the left-front-fender charge-port door?
No. The Mansory fender extension is dimensioned to clear the factory charge-port door. The flush-door actuator retains factory function and charge-cable approach angle is unchanged.

Can I add the Label Red copper-accent trim to a base-XM commission?
The copper-accent trim is factory Label Red equipment and is not fitted to base XMs at Mansory commission. Some owners specify a Mansory copper-accent side-stripe in paint at commission as a Label-Red-inspired cue; this is a paint-shop line item separate from the kit itself.

Does the wide-body fender extension clear the Label Red's factory 23" or 24" wheels?
Yes. The extension is dimensioned to clear the Label Red's factory 23" at full ride-height compression and to clear an upgraded 24" Mansory forged at both ride-height settings.

Is the XM's PHEV warranty affected by the kit?
The Mansory kit is bodywork only. Factory PHEV powertrain warranty, battery-capacity warranty, and e-motor warranty remain intact.
