The Mercedes-AMG GT launched in 2014 as Affalterbach's first purpose-designed two-seat sports coupé following the SLS AMG. The C190 platform introduced Affalterbach's front-mid-engine architecture with rear-axle transaxle — the M178 4.0-litre biturbo V8 is mounted behind the front axle in the dry-sump bay, the 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT is at the rear axle as a transaxle, and the carbon fibre torque tube links them. That layout gives near-perfect 47:53 weight distribution and the lowest polar moment of inertia Affalterbach had ever packaged into a road car. Production ran 2014-2021 across a full range of trims: GT (462 hp base), GT S (510 hp), GT C (557 hp with widebody rear fenders), GT R (577 hp 'Green Hell Magno', widebody, rear-axle steering, active aero), GT R Pro (577 hp with Nordschleife-specific suspension, limited 750 global), and the end-of-line GT Black Series (730 hp / 800 Nm, the most powerful AMG V8 ever produced, flat-plane crank conversion of the M178 into the M178 LS2, 2020-2021 limited 1,700-unit global run). The Mansory programme fits the entire C190 line — base GT through to GT Black Series with the flat-plane crank. The Roadster R190 (open-top variant) is covered by a separate Mansory Roadster SKU.
The AMG GT S is the only front-mid-engine two-seat sports coupé in the Mansory Mercedes catalogue. The S-Class Coupé C217 is a 2+2 luxury coupé, the AMG GT 4-door is a four-seat fastback saloon on a different (MRA) platform, the SL R232 is a front-engine grand-tourer convertible. The C190 is the chassis architecture dedicated to two-seat track-capable sports performance. That architectural distinctiveness is why the Mansory AMG GT programme was developed as a dedicated SKU — no other Mercedes donor shares the C190 geometry. The C192 successor (from 2024+) moved to a four-seat PHEV layout on a shared AMG GT 4-door / AMG SL platform — closing the two-seat-specific chapter.
Material: PU-RIM with visible carbon weave as standard; full dry-carbon upgrade available. Install runs six to seven shop days.
The C190 runs the M178 4.0-litre biturbo V8 (dry-sump, twin-turbo in the V-vee 'hot-inside-V' configuration, shared architecture with the M177 in the S63 / C63 / E63) with a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT rear-axle transaxle. Output across trims: GT 462 hp / 600 Nm; GT S 510 hp / 650 Nm; GT C 557 hp / 680 Nm; GT R / GT R Pro 577 hp / 700 Nm; GT Black Series 730 hp / 800 Nm with the M178 converted to flat-plane crank (re-designated M178 LS2), the most powerful AMG V8 ever. The Mansory body programme is bodywork only — no powertrain modification. Mansory M178 stage-1 tune is available as a separate workshop SKU and raises GT S output to approximately 580 hp, GT C to 620 hp, GT R to 650 hp. Mansory does not offer stage-1 tune on Black Series — the factory flat-plane calibration is at the upper thermal limit of the M178 LS2 and is not safely uprateable. Factory AMG Dynamic Select, factory AMG Traction Control, factory MCT limited-slip and factory AMG Adaptive Suspension (DCM) are all preserved with the Mansory kit.
Factory AMG GT ships on 19"/20" wheels; GT R / GT R Pro on 20" forged AMG as standard; Black Series on 20" forged AMG centre-lock as standard. Mansory's forged offering is 20" standard, matched to factory C190 chassis calibration. 21" is available on request but rarely specified — the C190 chassis was balanced for the 20" tyre aspect ratio. Tyre spec: Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 (GT R / Black Series), Pirelli P Zero Corsa. Full forged-wheel range at Hodoor forged wheels.
The AMG GT S commission book tracks the AMG enthusiast-coupé geography with a visible track-adjacent bias:
Germany home-market. Affalterbach (AMG's home), Stuttgart, Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Berlin. German AMG GT commissions are the single largest volume in the European Mansory AMG GT book. TÜV certification standard on all German commissions. Typical commission: GT R or GT C in visible-weave spec with 20" forged and stage-1 tune.
UK. London, Surrey belt, Cheshire. UK GT commissions weight toward GT S and GT R.
Gulf corridor. UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait. Gulf commissions bias toward GT Black Series (limited run, collector-valued) and GT C with aggressive full-scope kit.
USA. USA commissions spread across LA / Beverly Hills, Miami, NYC-metro, Dallas and Atlanta. Black Series ownership concentrated in Southern California and South Florida.
Asia / CIS. Japan (a particularly strong market for Black Series — Japanese collector-market has a long AMG Black Series tradition from the C63 / SL65 Black Series era), China, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand. Russia / CIS through the Tsar programme.
The AMG GT S sits alongside the AMG GT 4-door X290 (four-seat fastback saloon, MRA platform — architecturally separate despite the shared name), the AMG SL 63 R232, the S-Class Coupé C217, the S-Class W223, the W222 Restyling, and the AMG SLR McLaren Renovatio programme.
Full AMG GT kit: six to seven weeks from the workshop. Dry-carbon upgrade: adds two weeks. M178 stage-1 tune (GT / GT S / GT C / GT R): two weeks. 20"/21" forged wheel set: four weeks. Email [email protected] or WhatsApp +44 7488 818747 with your VIN, the GT trim (GT / GT S / GT C / GT R / GT R Pro / Black Series), the kit scope, material tier, wheel size, rear-spoiler choice (Mansory fixed wing / factory pop-up / factory Black Series swan-neck wing), tune preference and OEM Mercedes / AMG paint code.
Does the kit fit pre-facelift GT / GT S and post-facelift GT C / GT R?
Yes. The front bumper is calibrated against both pre-facelift (2014-2017) GT / GT S front-end and post-2017-facelift GT C / GT R / Black Series front-end. The rear bumper is common across all trims with quad-tip-exhaust configuration covering GT / GT S / GT C / GT R layouts. Black Series centre-exit exhaust requires a dedicated rear-bumper SKU variant.
Does the GT R's active aero continue to function?
Yes. The GT R's factory active air-curtain, the factory adjustable rear-wing geometry and the factory rear-axle steering all continue at factory function with the Mansory kit installed. The Mansory front bumper preserves the GT R's factory air-curtain intake geometry.
Is the Black Series flat-plane M178 LS2 affected by the kit?
No. The Mansory kit is bodywork only and does not modify the flat-plane-crank V8 calibration. Factory Black Series-specific AMG Traction Control 2.0 programming, factory aerodynamic balance at top speed, and factory Black Series swan-neck rear wing geometry are all preserved. Mansory declines stage-1 tune on Black Series as noted above.
What replaces the C190 AMG GT S in the current AMG line?
The C192 AMG GT (2024+), which moved to a four-seat 2+2 layout on a shared platform with the AMG SL R232 and the AMG GT 4-door. The C192 is PHEV-capable and does not continue the C190's pure-ICE two-seat architecture. Mansory does not cross-apply C190 tooling to C192 — C190 remains a dedicated-SKU programme. C192 commissions go through a separate developing programme.
Is the Roadster R190 (open-top) covered by the same SKU?
No. The Roadster R190 has a distinct rear-deck geometry to accommodate the soft-top stack. It is covered under a separate dedicated Roadster R190 Mansory SKU. The coupé C190 kit described here does not fit the Roadster R190.
